The latest twist in the controversy comes from a man claiming to be her former lover. He defended actor Kim Soo-hyun, who has been under scrutiny, and instead blamed Kim Sae-ron`s ex-husband for her death. He also shared that he had received a mysterious phone call threatening him with accusations of assault. Addressing the allegations, he said, "Hello. This is the late Kim Sae-ron’s husband. I wondered if it was right for me to step up because I am still in pain and unable to get out of my own feelings. I wondered if I would be causing damage to Sae-ron and her bereaved."
Earlier, South Korean comedian Jin-ho had released a recording of a supposed phone conversation between Kim Sae-ron’s manager and her best friend. In the conversation, her anonymous best friend alleged that Kim Sae-ron had been married to an abusive man from New York. The friend also claimed that the actress had an abortion after enduring repeated physical abuse. The audio clip has since been deleted, but the accusations continue to spread.

In response, the ex-husband denied all allegations of abuse and abortion. To support his claims, he shared a marriage certificate with the YouTube channel. He explained, "I was just living life as I did, an ordinary person, when I met Kim Sae-ron around mid-to-late November 2024, thanks to an introduction from an acquaintance... Later, we decided to void the marriage upon agreement from both parties, due to the fact that we got married too quickly without serious consideration."
Meanwhile, actor Kim Soo-hyun remains under fire for allegedly being romantically involved with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. Reports suggest that he later ignored her desperate pleas for help, which some claim contributed to her tragic end.
Lee Chan-hee reportedly aspired to become a celebrity and continued contacting Kim Sae-ron even after their brief romance ended. His intentions were allegedly to use her industry connections and professional experience to secure a foothold in the South Korean entertainment industry.
