War 2 has already garnered enough and more buzz only with its action-packed teaser. What makes it all the more special is the film marks Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR`s first-ever on-screen collaboration.
Yash Raj Films has always had unique marketing strategies when it comes to film promotions. War 2 will be no different. Now, the makers have ensured to keep Hrithik and Jr NTR away from each other during the promotions.
For the uninitiated, the Bollywood superstar revives his role as superspy Kabir Dhaliwal, while the Telugu actor will play the role of the lead antagonist. The two will lock horns in this high-octane action entertainer.

A senior trade source close to the development revealed an interesting strategy mapped out by YRF. Interestingly, the makers want the audience to experience the lead actors` chemistry by seeing them fighting ruthlessly on screen.

“Hrithik and NTR will be promoting War 2 separately, and all plans have been made keeping in mind that they would never share the stage together, never be in any promotional video together pre-release and never be seen with each other. Hrithik and NTR coming together is a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic moment in Indian cinema, and there will be bloody carnage on the big screen," the source said.
The source further informed, "YRF is clear that the audience should first experience this rivalry before they see the two promote with camaraderie. They want to deliver the best movie-watching experience to people by preserving the conflict, which is the unique selling point of the film.”
YRF`s past intriguing promotional tactics
This is not the first time that Yash Raj Films has made this strategic move. Aiming to save the best for last, the studios and producers have applied this move in the past too.
Another source in the know revealed, “The YRF Spy Universe has always deployed very interesting strategies to build its film and the promise of entertainment. They were the first to resort to a no-interview-before-release policy during promotions of spyverse films so that the actors don’t divulge details from the script during such interactions."
"In the first war, Hrithik and Tiger first came face-to-face with each other during the success bash of the film. In Pathaan, they recorded capsules with Shah Rukh Khan to deploy on social media to reveal nuggets of Pathaan and kept hyping the buzz on the film without SRK doing any events. Pathaan went on to become an all-time blockbuster. For Tiger Zinda Hai, the film’s campaign celebrated how the Tiger franchise set up the YRF Spy Universe, and fellow agents came into the promotional campaign, much to people’s surprise and awe!” they concluded.
Also starring Kiara Advani, War 2 will release on August 14 in cinemas near you. It will also see a big IMAX release.
