Dhanashree Verma Opens Up On Divorce With Chahal: "I Started Howling In Court"

Dhanashree Verma opens up on her divorce with Yuzvendra Chahal and shares her side of story. She also commented on Chahal`s controversial sugar daddy t-shirt.
Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal`s divorce took the internet by storm as the two became the biggest gossip of the tinsel town. After the cricketer shared what went wrong on Raj Shamani`s podcast, Dhanashree opened up about her side of the story and shared how she felt during the entire blow-up.
The choreographer sat down with Humans of Bombay for a candid chat and revealed what went wrong. She recalled howling and crying in court on the day their divorce was finalized. She also commented on Chahal`s controversial "sugar daddy" t-shirt.
For the uninitiated, Dhanashree and Yuzvendra tied the knot in 2020. However, the two called it quits in 2025.

The content creator-choreographer recalled the day of their divorce and said, "I still remember when I was standing there and the verdict was about to be given. Even though we were so well-prepared mentally, I got so emotional. I started howling in front of everybody."

"I couldn`t even express what I was feeling at that point. I just remember that I just kept crying; I was just howling and crying. Of course! All of that happened, and he (Chahal) walked out first," she continued.
Verma further highlighted how she was supportive of her former husband during their marriage and reflected on how she stood up for him even during the smallest moments.
"You have to put in an effort. I know how much I have stood up for my partner, and everybody has seen that. Like for the smallest or biggest things, I have been there. Maybe because of that, my emotions came out," she added.
Dhanashree Verma on the "sugar daddy" t-shirt controversy
The 28-year-old also opined on Yuzvendra Chahal`s infamous "Be Your Own Sugar Daddy" t-shirt. For the uninitiated, the Indian cricketer wore the t-shirt with the quote printed on it during the court proceedings, which sparked a controversy.
Commenting on the same, Dhanashree said, "You know that people are going to blame you. Before I had even known that this T-shirt stunt had happened, we were all aware that people were going to blame me for this."
She exclaimed, "Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai? (You should have sent it on WhatsApp. Why wear the T-shirt?"
Both Verma and Chahal married in 2020 and parted ways in 2025.
