Dunki Vs Salaar: 3 Reasons Why The Films Have Completely Different Audiences

-

The box-office battle between Dunki vs Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire, is on. With both films scheduled to release simultaneously on December 21 and 22, fans are excited to catch them in theaters. The clash has generated quite a discussion on social media as well, with some people conjecturing the victory of one film over the other. Some are saying that the clash will affect their individual box office collections.

However, both films are completely different in terms of their appeal and visual styles. Let's look at three major differences between the two films that prove why they will both do a good run at the box office.

1) Dunki vs Salaar: Censor Certificate and Duration

One of the major defining factors of the Dunki vs. Salaar clash is the censorship certificate that the films have received. While Salaar has an 'A' certificate owing to the intense action sequences, violence, and mature content, Dunki is a 'U/A' certified film with a light-hearted theme. This will prove to be a major driver for audiences and will segregate viewers.

The duration of both films is almost similar, with Salaar having a runtime of 2 hours, 52 minutes, and Dunki running for 2 hours, 40 minutes. Both the directors of the two films, Prashanth Neel and Rajkumar Hirani, are known to have longer durations for their films. Till now, both of them have managed to pull huge numbers to the theaters.

2) Dunki vs Salaar: Contrasting budgets

As both films have widely different subject matter and reach, their budgets are miles apart as well. Salaar is a high-octane action thriller in the vein of the successful KGF series. Therefore, the film is filled with VFX shots and major stunt sequences. Due to this, the budget for the film has shot up to over Rs 300 crore.

Whereas Rajkumar Hirani makes modest films that are set in an almost parallel reality that doesn't require much visual effects. Apart from that, as it's a lighthearted comedy, not much money is spent on making the film. The budget of Dunki is closer to Rs 120 crore, which is an extraordinary feat in current times.

3) Dunki vs Salaar: Different genres

Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire is a dark action thriller that is set against a political backdrop. It is bound to have intense, over-the-top scenes and many mass moments that would be whistle-worthy. The trailer for the film gives an idea of its massive scale, and Prabhas is known to be an energetic action star. Both of these factors will generally pull fans of the action genre towards the theater.

On the other hand, Rajkumar Hirani makes middle-of-the-road films that have a strong subject matter that is dealt with in a funny and innocent manner. Over the years, he has proven why he can pull on anyone's heartstrings with the sheer amount of emotion that his films contain. His films appeal to people of all age groups, and with Shah Rukh Khan in the frame, it is expected to invite even more people to the screens.

Final Verdict

Both Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire and Dunki are different in various ways from each other. They have their own strengths, which will prove important to getting box-office numbers. The advance booking trends and pre-buzz for both films show signs of big openings for both. It remains to be seen now how they fare at the box office.
