Anupam Kher reveals Kirron Kher had problems conceiving
When you think of adorable couples who are also legendary actors, Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher will surely make it to the list. While they are happily married, did you know the Metro... In Dino, the actor regrets not having his own child with his wife.
For the uninitiated, Anupam and Kirron were each other`s second partners. The two were previously married to Madhumalti Kapoor and Gautam Berry, respectively. Kirron and Gautam had a son, Sikander, whom Anupam gladly adopted.
The two veteran actors were best friends for a very long time and eventually fell in love. They tied the knot in 1985 and have been head over heels in love with each other for over 40 years.
Anupam Kher on not having his own child
The veteran superstar opened up on the void he feels of not having his own kid with his wife, Kirron`s complicated pregnancy, and everything in between. He sat down for a chat with podcaster Raj Shamani on his show, Figuring Out.
Kher said, “I do a lot of work with children. My foundation does a lot of work. I am fond of children. I used to do a show called ‘Say na something to Anupam uncle’, which was a children’s show. So somebody asked me, ‘Do you feel this?’ I said, Yeah, and it’s the truth.”

When asked why he decided not to have children, the Tanvi The Great actor revealed Kirron Kher couldn`t conceive, and when she did, the child`s growth wasn`t as expected.
“So it didn’t happen at first. Kirron could not conceive it, and then once she conceived, she had to… sort of… it was not growing in the right manner,” he said, adding this was the busiest time of his career. “I was too busy making it big. I was too busy aur Sikandar acha… abhi bhi acha hai Sikander mere liye (Sikander is still fine for me). He was 4 when he came into my life, when I married Kirron, so I never felt anything missing,” Anupam mentioned.
In a separate chat with Shubhankar Mishra, the actor shared, “It’s not like I am not happy with Sikander, but I think it’s a joy to see a child growing up. It`s a joy to see bonding, and this is an honest answer to you. I could have avoided answering this, but I don’t want to do that. But, it’s okay. It’s not a tragedy in my life. But I sometimes feel it would have been a nice thing.”
Anupam Kher`s directorial project, Tanvi The Great, released today. The movie has been garnering fantastic reviews.
