26th July marks as Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day where we pay homage to all brave warriors who fought at the Kargil War, protecting us and the country. Through Bollywood, we have lived some of the gruesome moments of the war. Here are 5 movies that paid tribute to the Kargil war and its warriors.

1. LOC: Kargil - 2003
A J.P Dutta directorial, LOC: Kargil was a massive film tht bought us closer to the inception to conclusion of the war. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Ashutosh Rana, Saif Ali Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Rani Mukerji, Esha Deol, Mahima Chaudhry, among others. Though it received mix response, LOC: Kargil will definitely evoke the patriot in you.
2. Lakshya - 2004
A Farhan Akhtar directorial, this fictional tale revolves around the life of Karan Shergil (Hrithik Roshan), an aimless boy who eventually joins the Indian Army and helps them conquer the 1999 Kargil war against Pakistan. Along with the lead actor, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Boman Irani and Om Puri, among others. Lakshya displays the resoluteness and focus that every army mission demands.
3. Mausam - 2011
When it coems to covering the disasters this nation has faced, Mausam did a pretty decent job. Helmed by Pankaj Kapur, this movie revolves around the Kargil War, demolition of Babri Masjid, the Bombay riots, the Mumbai bombings, and the Godhra riots. A romantic-drama, this movie stars Shahid Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Supriya Pathak among others.
4. Gunjan Saxena - 2020
This movie broke the stereotype of only men can fight at war. a leading fighter-pilot, Gunjan Saxena was the front-person during the deadly 1999 war. Her passion to serve the nation and become one of the best pilots was thriving, so much so, that it helped us win the Kargil war against Pakistan. Played by Janhvi Kapoor, the movie also features Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, and Ayesha Raza in pivotal roles.
