2023 proved to be a great year for the films. Coming back after the void created by the pandemic, the film fraternity striked back and managed to pull people to the theatres in large numbers. In a 2023 recap, here are 8 films that ruled the box office this year.

Jawan was Shah Rukh Khan`s second release of 2023

1) Jawan

With Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan proved to be the box office king once again as the film earned over Rs 1,148 crore worldwide.

Pathaan marked the return of Shah Rukh Khan to Bollywood

2) Pathaan

Shah Rukh Khan's first release this year was also the second highest grossing film after Jawan. It did a business of over Rs 1,050 crore at the box office.

3) Animal

Animal continues to run at the box office strongly and is expected to break the earlier records. Currently, it has done a business of over Rs. 700 crore in just over 10 days since its release.

Sunny Deol's unexpected success at the box office with Gadar 2 surprised everyone. The film managed to earn Rs. 691 crore worldwide.

Jailer ranks 5th among the highest grossers of 2023

5) Jailer

Rajinikanth is still the ruler of box office and he proved it with his magnanimous Jailer that did a worldwide gross of over Rs 650 crore.

6) Leo

Vijay Thalapathy's second release of the year was with the famed director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Despite not releasing in PVR chains in India, Leo earned over Rs. 620 crores.

Tiger 3 gave Salman Khan a box office after some flops

7) Tiger 3

Salman Khan had a roaring return to the big screens with Tiger 3 and he delivered a hit, earning close to Rs. 465 crores at box office.

Karan Johar's directorial venture was like a fresh breeze coming our way that turned out to be a hit. It earned Rs. 355 crore at the worldwide market.
