Get ready, India! The K-pop wave is about to get even bigger. HYBE, the entertainment giant behind global superstars BTS and SEVENTEEN, has officially announced its expansion into India. The company plans to establish a subsidiary by September or October 2025, a move that promises to bring the vibrant world of K-pop closer to its massive Indian fanbase and potentially reshape the local music landscape.
This expansion is a key part of Chairman Bang Si Hyuk’s visionary “multi-home, multi-genre” strategy. The goal is not just to export K-pop but to localise its successful training and production formula to fit diverse cultural markets. HYBE aims to blend its proven methodology—rigorous training, compelling storytelling, and deep fan engagement—with India’s rich musical heritage.
This approach has already yielded impressive results globally. In the United States, HYBE America`s girl group KATSEYE broke into the Billboard Hot 100 shortly after their debut. Similarly, HYBE Latin America, launched in late 2023, is making significant strides with popular audition programmes. As a HYBE spokesperson noted, “The strategy of establishing footholds in major global music markets and applying this methodology is already producing results.”

HYBE’s entry is poised to energise the Indian pop (I-pop) scene, potentially creating a new generation of Indian idols trained with K-pop precision but rooted in local sounds. The fusion of K-pop’s global appeal with India`s diverse cultural fabric could lead to groundbreaking cross-cultural music and artists who resonate with audiences worldwide. The big question now is how HYBE will adapt its model to India`s unique nuances—a prospect that holds immense promise for the future of music.
