Vikrant Massey in Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan
Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The trailer has already stirred intrigue among cinephiles. What makes it even more special is the movie marks Shanaya Kapoor`s Bollywood debut and Vikrant Massey`s first romantic drama.
At the trailer launch, the whole cast of Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan interacted with the media. During the same, the 12th Fail actor was asked why he hasn`t explored this kind of genre yet.
For the uninitiated, Massey has given some incredible performances in films like The Sabarmati Report, Haseen Dillruba, Gaslight, and Sector 36, among others. All these movies were far from romance.
Why is Vikrant Massey nervous for Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan?
In his recent interaction with media personnel at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, the actor was asked what made him enter the romantic genre this late.
He confessed that as the film nears its release, he is feeling all the more "nervous", calling it a "debut movie" of his career. He also opened up on the lack of romantic movies in his roster of filmography.
"I am very nervous because somewhere I feel like it`s my debut film because I have never done a film of this genre," said Vikrant at the trailer launch of the film.
The Gaslight actor admitted that he never had the courage to do a romantic film till Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan was narrated to him.
"I didn`t have the courage to be very honest. When I started my career, the kind of films I watched and decided to become an actor for were always a little offbeat. But as my career progressed, no impressive, romantic films came. Only run-of-the-mill stories kept coming," Vikrant Massey explained.
He further added, "Finally, I thought that it`s enough to stay in my comfort space. Now I`ll have to challenge myself, and when Mansi (scriptwriter of the film) brought this script with Varun (film`s producer), I felt this is the right script for me to do right now at the right time in my career."
Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is reportedly based on Ruskin Bond`s infamous short story titled The Eyes Have It. Helmed by Santosh Singh, the movie will release on June 11 in cinemas near you.
