After a super-successful turnout at the first Radio City Freedom Concert in Chennai, Radio City Freedom Awards 5 continues its musical trail to the ‘Oxford of the East’, Pune.
Joining us in the city for the RCFA 5 bandwagon are Abhanga Repost and Alif, who are all set to leave Punekars spellbound with their indie magic.
Abhanga Repost are extremely Puneri in their music. A true pioneer of contemporary folk fusion, the outfit combines abhangas devotional poetry with modern music forms so as to cater to a contemporary audience, but without losing their roots. Comprising of Suyog Gosavi on Vocals, Ajay Vavhal on Lead Guitar, Swapnil Tarphe on Bass Guitar, Viraj Acharya on Tabla/ Percussion, Piyush Acharya on Harmonium and Dush Dev on Drums, Abhanga Repost is based from Mumbai
On the other hand, Pune-based Alif featuring Mohammad Muneem Nazir-Lead Vocals and Lyricist, Karan Chitra Deshmukh on Drums, Amit Gadgil on Bass, Hardik Vaghela on Keyboards and Chaitanya Bhaidkar on Guitars fuse Kashmiri and Urdu verses with ethnic sounds.
Radio City Freedom Awards 5 honours and promotes home-grown talent that perform in languages and cultures related to their origins and discover compositions that are earthy and rooted, through its theme, ‘Sounds of the Soil’.
Catch Abhanga Repost and Alif at Euriska, on February 15th, 2018. For gig details, click here.
