Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic: Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani to Reunite Again

Eleven years after their last blockbuster, the dynamic duo of superstar Aamir Khan and acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani are joining forces once again. This time, theyre set to bring the untold story of Dadasaheb Phalke, the revered "Father of Indian Cinema", to the silver screen. Its a fitting tribute, considering the Dadasaheb Phalke Award is Indias highest cinematic honour, yet Phalkes own monumental journey has surprisingly never been a central theme in Hindi cinema. A Historic Collaboration Reignited After delivering unforgettable hits like 3 Idiots (2009) and PK (2014), the Aamir Khan-Rajkumar Hirani partnership is one of Bollywoods most anticipated. Their upcoming biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke is poised to be a monumental project. The film will be set against the dramatic backdrop of India’s independence struggle, promising a rich historical context. Shooting is scheduled to commence in October 2025. Audiences will witness the remarkable journey of the producer-director from his initial struggles to laying the foundation for what would become the worlds largest indigenous film industry.According to a statement from Aamir Khan’s team, the actor is fully committed to this challenging role. “He will start preparing for his part soon after the release of Sitaare Zameen Par." The pre-production is already in full swing, with cutting-edge technology playing a part. "VFX studios from LA have already created AI designs for the era and period of the film,” the statement revealed.The dedication to authenticity is further highlighted by the meticulous script development. “Rajkumar Hirani with Abhijat Joshi and two other writers, Hindukush Bharadwaj and Avishkar Bharadwaj, have been working on this script for the last 4 years." Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, popularly known as Dadasaheb Phalke, was the visionary who directed India’s first full-length feature film, Raja Harishchandra, in 1913. He established the Phalke Films Company in 1912. For his debut feature, Phalke not only wrote, directed, and produced but also saw his wife, Saraswati, contribute to costume design and catering, while his eldest son, Bhalchandra, played an important role. Over a career spanning nearly two decades, Dadasaheb Phalke reportedly made 27 short films and over 90 full-length movies, including notable works like Lanka Dahan, Shri Krishna Janma, and Satyavan Savitri.It’s surprising that no one in Hindi cinema has yet told us the story of cinema in cinema. Dadasaheb Phalkes story is something that the nation needs to see on the screen. Set against the backdrop of the independence struggle, the story unfolds an extraordinary journey of an artist who, from scratch, against all odds, goes on to give birth to the largest indigenous film industry in the world. Mithun Chakraborty To Be Honoured With Dadasaheb Phalke Award

One of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema, Mithun Chakraborty, made his mark in the Hindi film industry in the early 1970s. Having made his debut in 1976, the actor has featured in over 350 movies in a span of four decades.While his talent was well recognized over the past years, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that Mithun Chakraborty will be bestowed with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his enormous contribution to the silver screen as an actor.The news of the actor winning the prestigious award comes in months after he was honored with Padma Bhushan. Mithun Chakraborty to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Minister Vaishnaw took to social media and announced the exciting news. His tweet read, "Mithun Da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor Sh. On Monday, Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival awards were announced and some of the incredible movies, television shows, and performances were lauded with recognition. While Alia Bhatt grabbed the Best Actress award for Gangubai Kathiawadi, she also accepted the award on behalf of her husband Ranbir Kapoor for winning the Best Actor award for Brahmastra.  Along with the power couple, many others were awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke award, thus adding another feather to their caps. While Anupam Kher won the Most Versatile Actor Of The Year award, Vivek Agnihotris The Kashmir Files bagged the Best Film award.  The award ceremony was not just limited to Bollywood. Actor-filmmaker Rishabh Shetty won the Most Promising Actor award for his South blockbuster Kantara. In the television industry, it was Rupali Gangulys Anupama to win the Television Series of The Year. Journey Of The Veteran Actor Raj Kapoor: From A Clapper-boy To One Of The Most Loved Actors

Raj Kapoor entered the film industry as a child artist and later on became a clapper-boy for the famous Bombay Talkies during the late 1930s. He also worked as an Assistant/Production Manager/Art Director at Prithvi Theatre. Kidar Sharma gave him a chance in his 1947 black-and-white feature film ‘Neel Kamal opposite Madhubala. The actor brought a new wave of revolution to the romantic drama genre of Hindi Cinema. To follow his zeal as a filmmaker the actor formed his production company in 1948 naming it after himself R.K. Studios. In 1948 Raj Kapoor debuted as a director and producer with the movie “Aag”. He even played the lead role in the same film.Kapoor struggled a lot and with each film, he proved how passionate he is about acting. He received multiple recognitions three National Film Awards, and 11 Filmfare awards in India.  The Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award is named after the legend. The Indian government honored him with the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to the arts. In 1987, India’s highest award in cinema ‘The Dadasaheb Phalke Award’ was granted to him by the Indian Government. The actor was inspired by Charlie Chaplin. He was also known as the Charlie Chaplin Of Indian Cinema.  The Indian Cinema lost its precious gem in the year 1988 as the actor was suffering from asthma and suddenly collapsed at the event where he had to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in New Delhi.

Armaan Malik honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke award

Singer Armaan Malik was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the 'Most Popular Singer of the Year' category here. Armaan, who recently lent his voice for the song "Bol do na zara" from "Azhar", said that the award holds a "special place" for him. "This year has been a crazy journey for me and every award that I have received has been an incentive to work even harder and better. However, this one holds a special place for me in my life!" Armaan told IANS. "This award is considered to be a very important one in one's Bollywood career and I'm glad to get it so early... It feels surreal to know that people out there know me, know my songs and give me so much love. I would like to dedicate this award especially to my musical gurus and teachers Rita Kaul and Qadir Ghulam Mustafa Khan," he added. The awards ceremony was held here on April 24.
