He wasnt one to maintain friends in the industry. Once when a reporter taunted him for being a loner, Kishore Da introduced her to the trees and named each one of them. He preferred talking to the trees than socializing with his industry kindred.

He is Bappi Lahiris maternal uncle.

The initial leads considered for the Rajesh Khanna-Amitabh Bachchan starrer Anand were Kishore Da and Mehmood. But when filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee visited Kishore Da to discuss the script, he was driven out.

He once put a signboard outside his Warden Road flat that said, Beware of Kishore. When filmmaker H S Rawail paid him a visit and tried to shake hands with him, Kishore Da shook his hand and then bit it. He then asked Rawail, Did you not see the sign?

He was an ardent fan of K L Saigal and would often try and emulate his style during his initial days as a singer.

He had married four times. First was Bengali singer and actress Ruma Thakurta Guha, second was the beautiful Madhubala, third was Yogeeta Bali and fourth was Leena Chandavarkar. He has two sons, Amit Kumar from Ruma and Sumeet Kumar from Chandavarkar. He had once admitted that he enjoys the company of beautiful women but he hated indulging them with materialistic comforts.

He would be very particular about his payments. Infact, he is known to have turned up for recordings, only after his secretary confirmed the receipt of his fees.

Not just Hindi, but the singer has also sung in Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya and Bhojpuri. Phew!
