Radio City Freedom Awards 2014 All You Need to Know!

RCFA 2014 won the prestigious WOW Award Asia -silver for the Digital Presence for a Property.

Winner of the Best Hip/ Hop Artist category -Jury & Popular Choice, Divine was signed by Sony Music after his sweeping win at RCFA 2014.

Electronica and Hip-Hop category saw new names as winners in the form of Dualist Inquiry and Divine respectively. Natania Lalwani won 3 awards - Best Young Indie Artist, Best Pop Artist -Jurys Choice and Best Pop Artist -Popular Choice. Ram Sampath featuring Bhanvari Devi & Hard Kaur walked away with the Best Indie Collaboration of the year. For the first time, there was a tie in the Best Video Artist category, between Swarathma and Bickram Ghosh.

Before taking off with his performance, Raghu Dixit thanked Radio City for helping him start his music career. The musician had voiced a jingle for Radio City years ago.

The event was kick-started with Faridkot mesmerizing the crowds with their Sufi renditions. 2013s Best Hip Hop Artist Brodha V took over next with his award-winning song Indian Flava. Gaurav Raina aka GRAIN, one-half of Midival Punditz swayed the audience with his electronic renditions. Composer, singer and songwriter Raghu Dixit brought the event to a closure with his incredible act.

RCFA 2014 received over 460 entries across genres. The nominations attracted some of the biggest names from the Indie music circuit like Brodha V, Bombay Bassment, Laxmi Bomb, Swarathma, Junkyard Groove and The F16s. A whopping 9300 votes were received across genres for the second edition of RCFA.

The finale was held at Kingdom Of Dreams, New Delhi on 3rd December, 2014 and hosted by popular VJ Cyrus Sahukar.

RCFA 2013s winners in the Pop category, Raahie went on to create an anthem for Radio City Freedom Awards 2014. The track is called Parwaaz, that means To Fly. The song was a dedication to all independent artistes across the globe who are passionate about music and not restricted by banners, but instead believe in themselves, their work and putting out their vision through the form of music.

While RCFA 2013s judges - Atul Churamani, Yotam Agam, Luke Kenny and Nandini Srikar stayed put on the panel, Subir Malik of Parikrama fame and 90s pop sensation Suneeta Rao too joined them.

The 2nd edition of RCFA went a step forward in encouraging fresh talent by adding 3 new categories- Best Young Indie Artist/Band, Best Indie Collaboration of the year and Best Indie Genius- Person of the year.

After a tremendous response and support received in the first year, Radio City 91.1 FM announced the 2nd Edition of Radio City Freedom Awards in 2014.
