Like it was five years ago, when 'The Dirty Picture' had released.The success of The Dirty Picture wrote a different chapter for Vidya and for actresses to follow. She followed it up with 'Kahaani' and she was touted as a superstar in her own right.It's been four years since 'Kahaani' happened and there hasn't been a single hit in the actress' kitty, since then. Before you pull the trigger on her, let us tell you, it's not her fault. Our industry does not know how to make good use of her talent.No matter how much flak the actress must have faced for her fashion choices or for her weight gain, there was nothing to be taken away from her unbelievable acting prowess. A fact that the world took notice of in her debut 'Parineeta' and a trend that she has single-handedly carried herself with, delivering blockbusters with 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', 'Paa', 'Ishqiya', 'The Dirty Picture', and 'Kahaani'.Merit was her sole means of survival in an industry that crawls on mediocrity.With the release of Kahaani 2 out now, we see that there is some chance at redemption here. But like director Sujoy Ghosh quoted himself in a recent interview, whether 'Kahaani 2' works or not, no one will complain about Balan. Hell, we never did anyway, but in a world where box-office numbers and audience reactions have the last word, its high time that Vidya got her due.Amen to that.
