With the next month approaching, there is a long list of movies set to release in April. Here is a list of some of the most anticipated films that will be released in theaters or on streaming services in April 2024.


JNU: Jehangir National University (April 5)

A recent poster release for the film caused a buzz online due to its reportedly controversial subject of student riots at a prestigious Indian university. Although the plot of the film has not been revealed yet, it features Urvashi Rautela, Siddharth Bodke, Piyush Mishra, Rashami Desai, Sonnalli Seygall, Ravi Kishan, Vijay Raaz, and others in pivotal roles.


The Defective Detectives (April 5)

This film stars Siddhartha Jadhav, Paritosh Painter, Jayesh Thakkar, Johnny Lever, Shweta Gulati, and Tejaswini Lonari, among others. The indie film will be available to watch in English and Marathi. The plot is a comedy drama that centres on a group of three unconventional detectives attempting to solve a fraud case.


Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (April 10)

The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial is headlined by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, with Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the lead antagonist. Apart from them, the film also stars Manushi Chillar and Disha Patani in leading roles. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan will feature a unique mix of high-octane action sequences, an entertaining equation between the two leading men, and glamorous dance sequences at exotic locations.


Amar Singh Chamkila (April 12)

The movie is a biographical drama about the life of musician Amar Singh Chamkila, specifically focusing on the untold story of Punjab's original rock star and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, and how music was an integral part of his life. The film Amar Singh Chamkila, written and directed by Imtiaz Ali and starring Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles, will be available for streaming on Netflix.

Do Aur Do Pyaar (April 19)

Another upcoming film, Do Aur Do Pyaar, is a romantic comedy starring Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D'Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. Directed by Shrisha Guha Thakurta, it will be released in theatres next month.


Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (April 19)

Directed by Dibakar Banerjee and set to release on April 19, it explores the complexities of modern relationships and self-discovery in the age of technology. The film focuses on the theme of 'love in the times of the internet', with characters facing numerous obstacles in navigating their relationships. The movie stars Uorfi Javed and Nimrit Ahluwalia in pivotal roles, with Mouni Roy and Tusshar Kapoor reportedly making cameo appearances.


Tehran (April 26)

Tehran is a geopolitical drama starring John Abraham, Manushi Chhillar, and Neeru Bajwa. Directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film is said to be based on true events.


Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha (April 26)

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, this movie stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Saiee Manjrekar, Jimmy Shergill, and Shantanu Maheswari, among others. The film will be a romantic story that spans over a period of twenty years.
