The Mumbai police have identified and arrested the accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case. The suspect, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, was apprehended early Sunday morning after being on the run for three days. Authorities have uncovered shocking details about his identity and movements leading up to the crime.
After stabbing the actor during a scuffle, Fakir initially hid in the garden of the same building for two hours before fleeing. Following an intense manhunt, police traced him to Thane.
Fakir initially tried to mislead investigators by claiming to be Vijay Das, a resident of Kolkata. However, he was unable to provide any valid s to support this claim. Under interrogation, he revealed his real name and admitted to being a Bangladeshi citizen.
Police confirmed Shariful’s nationality by obtaining his school leaving certificate from his brother in Bangladesh. In a statement, the police said, “He called his brother and asked him to send his school leaving certificate. His brother sent it (the certificate) on Fakir`s mobile phone. This is strong evidence to prove he is a Bangladeshi national.”
Investigators also found evidence on Fakir’s cellphone, including call logs and app-based communications with family members in Bangladesh.

Police revealed that Fakir worked in housekeeping roles in pubs and hotels in Worli and Thane, arranged through a labour contractor named Amit Pandey.

Fakir eventually entered Saif Ali Khan’s building armed with a knife and tools. After attacking the actor, he slept in a garden near a college in Bandra and changed his clothes to avoid detection.
Mumbai police are now piecing together Fakir’s movements over the past few months and investigating his motives further. The incident has not only raised questions about celebrity security but has also highlighted gaps in how un ed migrants can move freely across state borders and obtain identification.

Accused Arrested After Days in Hiding

Journey from Bangladesh to Mumbai
Fakir crossed the Dawki River along the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya around seven months ago. He stayed briefly in West Bengal, where he allegedly used a local Aadhaar card to obtain a SIM card.
