Randeep Hooda from Jaat
Randeep Hooda, known for his chameleon-like ability to fully immerse himself in roles, is set to deliver one of his most intense performances yet in Jaat. The upcoming film, starring Sunny Deol, sees Hooda take on the role of Ranatunga, a ruthless and menacing gangster. Set to release on April 10 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, Jaat promises to dive deep into the brutal world of crime, with Hooda leading the charge as its most terrifying force.
A source close to the production revealed, “Randeep is known for his methodical approach, and Jaat is no exception. He grew out his hair, sculpted his physique, and honed his expressions to bring Ranatunga to life. His attention to detail ensures no aspect of his performance feels artificial.”
This commitment to authenticity is nothing new for Hooda. Fans still remember his drastic weight loss for Sarbjit (2016), where he lost 18 kg in 28 days. More recently, for Swatantra Veer Savarkar (2024), he transformed himself to embody the revolutionary leader. However, Jaat marks a different kind of transformation—one that delves into pure, unfiltered evil.
Hooda himself has described Ranatunga as a character unlike any he has played before. “I’ve played dark and layered characters before, but Ranatunga is pure evil. He’s violent, unhinged, and operates with a kind of brutality that even shocked me while performing it,” he said.
Director Gopichand Malineni played a crucial role in shaping this terrifying antagonist. “Our director had a clear vision for Ranatunga, and I completely took on what he had imagined,” Hooda added.
