Is Kunal Kemmu’s “VIBE” a spoof of Pathaan & Tiger? Actor reveals
Kunal Kemmu is gearing up for his new project titled “VIBE”. Ever since the teaser hit the social media, fans have been waiting for the movie to make its way to the theatres. But, the glimpse that the fans received, a question has been popped up asking whether the movie is a spoof of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” and Salman Khan’s “Tiger”.
Here is what Kunal Kemmu has to say about it.
Actor and director of “VIBE”, Kunal Kemmu recently interacted with an entertainment portal to talk about what fans could expect from the movie. When asked about the movie being a spoof of “Pathaan” or “Tiger”, Kunal Kemmu cleared the air around it saying it in fact isn’t. He said, “I`ve had this story with me even before I became a director. I`ve narrated this to friends. I didn`t write it then because I didn`t know whether it would be made or not. At that point of time, Pathaan had definitely not come. But it was just about what this character would feel. It was not taking a swing at anybody. Like, it was genuinely saying that for this normal man, like if I get picked up, I will say, `you pick up somebody who`s good at this`. The idea of getting into the spy world, when you actually see the film, you`ll understand why what is happening, it`s all logical, it`s not farcical. It is kind of over-the-top in the way that what is happening with them. But it`s not a spoof, it`s not a parody of any film.”
Sharmila Tagore to make a cameo in son-in-law Kunal Kemmu’s “VIBE”
Kunal also shared how happy he is that he got to work with the legend and his mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore in the movie. While sharing his thoughts on the same, he said, “With Sharmila ji, it was a shot in the dark. I asked her if there was this part, it was a cameo, and if she would play that part. She asked me for the synopsis of the film. Then I told her the synopsis of the film, and she said that was just a trick question: `I was anyways going to do it.` She was gracious enough. And I think it is one of those checkboxes that I got to tick. I am happy and proud that I could call `action` and `cut` on a legend like her.” He also added, “With VIBE, I wanted to make a no-holds-barred entertainer that audiences can watch and enjoy in cinemas with family or friends or even on their own. It’s got everything I love about movies – rib-tickling comedy, high-octane action, cutesy romance, buzzing music, and so much more. For me, the comedy comes from watching ordinary people find themselves in the middle of chaos that is completely beyond their control. Playing one of those characters while also writing, directing, and producing the film meant constantly shifting between different versions of the same madness”.

The upcoming film is described as a comedy caper with a spy angle and stars Kunal alongside Preity Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Vanshika Dhir, Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav. The film is slated to hit theatres on September 18, 2026.
