Sharmila Tagore to work with son-in-law Kunal Kemmu? Here’s what we know
There’s a delightful Bollywood family connection waiting to unfold on the big screen! IT IS CONFIRMED! Sharmila Tagore is back on the big screen and this time she will be seen with her son-in-law and Bollywood star Kunal Kemmu in his upcoming movie ‘VIBE’.
Here is what we know.
Just when the trailer of “VIBE” made its way to the audience, it was officially confirmed that Kunal’s mother-in-law and Bollywood legend Sharmila Tagore ji will also be a part of it. Though not in the lead, Sharmila ji will be seen in a cameo role. This was one of a kind experience for Kunal. At the trailer launch of “VIBE”, Kunal Kemmu talked about it and said, “With Sharmila ji, it was a shot in the dark. I asked her if there was this part, it was a cameo, and if she would play that part. She asked me for the synopsis of the film. Then I told her the synopsis of the film, and she said that was just a trick question: `I was anyways going to do it.` She was gracious enough. And I think it is one of those checkboxes that I got to tick. I am happy and proud that I could call `action` and `cut` on a legend like her.” He also added, “With VIBE, I wanted to make a no-holds-barred entertainer that audiences can watch and enjoy in cinemas with family or friends or even on their own. It’s got everything I love about movies – rib-tickling comedy, high-octane action, cutesy romance, buzzing music, and so much more. For me, the comedy comes from watching ordinary people find themselves in the middle of chaos that is completely beyond their control. Playing one of those characters while also writing, directing, and producing the film meant constantly shifting between different versions of the same madness”.
The upcoming film is described as a comedy caper with a spy angle and stars Kunal alongside Preity Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Vanshika Dhir, Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav. The film is slated to hit theatres on September 18, 2026.
With "VIBE" promising comedy, chaos, espionage and an unexpected family connection, Sharmila Tagore’s appearance could become one of the film’s most talked-about surprises. And considering that Kunal himself is thrilled about directing the cinematic legend, audiences have yet another reason to keep an eye on this intriguing entertainer.
