Anil Kapoor Demands 18 Crores For Akshay Kumar`s Welcome 3, Will There Be No Majnu Bhai This Time?

If you think of a light-hearted comedy movie, Welcome will top your list. The first installment of the film was a laughter riot, with iconic characters like Majnu Bhai, Uday Shetty, and more entertaining us thoroughly. Recently, social media was taken by storm when fans realized Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar wouldn`t be a part of Welcome 3.
Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar played the iconic pair of Majnu Bhai and Uday Shetty. Their impeccable comic timing, hilarious dialogue, and character chemistry were arguably the best. However, reports suggest the two won`t be a part of Welcome 3.
A source close to the development revealed interesting details. Anil and Nana were offered Welcome 3 to relive their iconic characters. However, things didn`t sail through due to financial facts.
When the producer Firoz Nadiadwala tried to negotiate and come to common ground with Anil Kapoor, the latter was quite adamant on charging 18 crores to be a part of the third installment of the comedy franchise.
"Anil felt that Welcome is Welcome because of Majnu, and the film will just get wider in the third part with the addition of Akshay Kumar. He felt that he deserved the money, as the third part is a potential Rs. 300 crore film at the India Box Office, and even he deserved the amount he asked for. He tried to put forth his point, but when Firoz refused, he willingly backed out of the film. Akshay Kumar also tried to intervene and get Anil on board, but Anil was stuck on getting Rs. 18 crore," the source further added.
However, Anil`s exit was not the only void created in the cast of Welcome 3. Following this, Nana Patekar also decided to walk out of the movie since he believes there is no Uday Shetty without Majnu.
"Uday and Majnu are like Pav and Bhaji. There is no fun in eating either Pav or Bhaji, and it makes sense to have both components together. Once Anil backed out, Nana also took a backseat. Akshay and Firoz then decided to bring in Munna and Circuit in Welcome 3," the source concluded.
The movie will also star Krushna Abhishek, Kikoo Sharda, Mika Singh, and Daler Mehendi in pivotal roles.
