Apart from the name which can be directly translated, the love triangle, and the scene where the stalker carves his lovers name on the chest has also been adapted by James Foley in his American thriller, Fear.

Pearl Harbor was less about the attacks on Pearl Harbor but more about a romantic love triangle between two best friends and a girl. Plots for both movies are fairly similar but the only difference between the two movies was that Sangam had only one friend as a pilot whereas its Hollywood counterpart had both.

That Quentin Tarantino himself confessed it to Anurag Kashyap that the action sequences were inspired from Kamal Haasans Abhay says it all, though the plot differs.

There wasnt a tapori best friend as Aamir Khan but the basic plot of the movie where a girl is caught in a love triangle between her best friend and a movie star remains.

We are all aware that the Bollywood movie Partner is said to be a copy of Hitch. But Hitch itself was inspired by the plot of Chhoti Si Baat where a guy who fails to woo a girl, takes the help of a man who makes it his profession to help people with similar problems.

Though makers of Leap Year refute the claims of the movie being inspired by Jab We Met, the similarities are hard to miss. A bubbly, highly-talkative girl on her way to propose to her boyfriend meets a stranger and shares a hotel room with him. They fall in love, get separated but eventually re-unite and get married.

The difference between the two movies may lie in the plot and the fact that Vince Vaughns sperm donations amounted to a total of 533 kids being born as compared to Ayushmanns 53. Maybe Vince is more fertile, -winks. But the basic idea of the film, sperm donation, was inspired by Vicky Donor.

Chandran Rutnam had to cast Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley to pull off Naseeruddin Shahs character from A Wednesday . Yes, A Common Man is not just inspired but is an official remake of Neeraj Pandeys masterpiece. Honestly, we feel that A Wednesday can be remade in as many languages as possible as the story was unconventionally the king.

Weve lost the count of how many of our movies are inspired from the West. But these eight movies can pacify us to pat our backs and reassure ourselves that we too can dole out original stories in terms of filmmaking, hence inspiring the West to ape our films.
