Sitar Virtuoso Anoushka Shankar receives two nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards

Indian origin sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar has received two nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards. The first one is in the category of the Best Global Music Performance for Udhero Na, her collaboration with Arooj Aftab, a multi-instrumentalist and singer. The song features in Arooj`s album Vulture Prince. Arooj herself was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Global Music Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The second Grammy nomination for Shankar is in the Best Global Music Album category for “Between Us ... (Live),” her collaboration with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest, Jules Buckley and Manu Delago.
Apart from Anoushka Shankar, India`s Ricky Kej also received a Grammy nomination for his album Divine Tides with Stewart Copeland in the category Best Immersive Audio Album. Last year Divine Tides won the Grammy Award for the Best New Age Album.
The Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 5, 2023.
Daughter of sitar legend Pt. Ravi Shankar, Anoushka released her debut album ‘Anoushka’, in 1998, followed by ‘Anourag’ in 2000. She along with her half-sister Norah Jones were nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2003 for her third album Live at Carnegie Hall making Anoushka the youngest nominee in the World Music category.
Grammy nominated sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar will tour India in December. Starting with Bengaluru at the Good Shephard auditorium on December 11 followed by Mumbai at the Shanmukhananda auditorium on December 16 and culminating at the Siri Fort auditorium in Delhio on December 18.
