Ankur Tewari is a master at the art of capturing moods and moments, making magic of the mundane. Aahista, his first single of the new year sees his signature Urdu infused lyrics melting into a delightfully soothing melody.

In the fast-paced post pandemic world where our phones don’t stop beeping and there’s always something to do or somewhere to be, Aahista comes as a sweet respite. Minimalism is what Tewari specialises in, making music that doesn’t confound the senses but invites you in gently to explore the serenity of his melody and the profundity of his words. 

On being asked about the sentiment he was trying to capture, Tewari says, “The same moment that passes someone like an arrow, could last a lifetime for someone else. Aahista romanticizes the moment and tries to measure the distance between two people. It puts fast and slow in the opposite pans of a scale and curiously waits for the needle to find its balance. 

Slow living has been a staple buzzword in the social media landscape but not many of us have actually been able to put it into practice, the world somehow always gets in the way. 

What makes the single exceptional is that Aahista is both a portable vacation and a sagely reminder to slow down rolled into one; the calming magic of which we could all use a little more of in these unprecedented times.
