Veteran actor Vinod Khanna passes away at 70

After a prolonged battle with cancer, veteran actor and politician Vinod Khanna succumbed to his illness, this morning in Mumbai.
The actor was hospitalized on March 31st following a bout of severe dehydration. During his hospitalization, a photo of him with his family was circulated across print and social media that irked the sentiments of many of the actor’s fans and friends from the industry.
Fondly remembered for his performances in ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, ‘Inkaar’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Dayavan’ ‘Qurbani’ and ‘Dabanng’, Khanna was last seen in ‘Dilwale’ starring Shah Rukh Khan.
In 1997, Khanna joined politics and was elected as the MP of the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, for four terms. In July 2002, he became the Culture and Tourism minister but was moved to the Ministry of External Affairs in a cabinet reshuffle, six months later.
Khanna is survived by his sons from his first marriage, actors Rahul and Akshaye, his second wife Kavita and their children, son Sakshi and daughter Shraddha.
