Soorma Trailer: Diljit’s efficient portrayal of hockey legend Sandeep Singh will leave you inspired

Ask any sports enthusiast in India, especially followers of Indian hockey, and Sandeep Singh’s name will feature among the greatest legends, ever witnessed.
Tragic that the Indian sports system has never glorified or depicted his success, which is why director Shaad Ali is happy to bring forth his story in ‘Soorma’ starring Diljit Dosanjh, Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi.
Diljit, in his fourth mainstream film, slips into the shoes of the international hockey player. We see the journey from the eyes of a young Sandeep, who lives a carefree life and has little interest in hockey, until he decides to take up the game to win the woman he loves, played by Taapsee. How his love turns into his inspiration, eventually leading him to the international circuit, is one half of the story. The other half sees, how Singh’s rise was cut-short after a fatal accident in 2006 that had him wheel-chaired and paralysed. How he resurrects himself leading India to victory at the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, defines this film. Angad portrays the character of Diljit’s brother and mentor with sincerity, as well.
Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh and Deepak Singh, ‘Soorma’ has music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics penned by Gulzar.
The journey is all slated to unfold on July 13th, 2018.
