Putting an end to all speculations leading to the release of Janhvi Kapoor’s much-delayed film, ‘Gunjan Saxena’, the makers of the film have confirmed its digital release on Netflix.
Also starring Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar Singh and Manav Vij, ‘Gunjan Saxena’ is an inspirational biopic of an Indian Air Force flight lieutenant who became the first woman to fly the Cheetah helicopter into the warzone during the Indo-Pak Kargil War in 1999. Like many other women, Gunjan is a simple woman who hails from Lucknow and she dreamed about making a mark in a field largely dominated by men. She was able to achieve her dreams because of her professional abilities and the unwavering support by her family members.
Directed by Sharan Sharma, ‘Gunjan Saxena’ was earlier scheduled for theatrical release on March 13, but was later pushed to April 24, as a goodwill gesture in order to accommodate the release of Irrfan Khan’s ‘Angrezi Medium’ on the former date. However, the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic foiled the release plans of multiple Bollywood biggies, leaving the film’s fate uncertain.
However, alike ‘Gulabo Sitabo’and ‘Shakuntala Devi’, ‘Gunjan Saxena’ is now the third Bollywood film to have taken the digital route.
Details of the official release date are awaited.
