Vaisakh C, via X (formerly Twitter), described Narivetta as “one of the finest movies from Malayalam,” applauding its emotional depth, socially resonant storyline, and technical brilliance. Tovino Thomas was singled out for delivering “undoubtedly the best & appreciable performance” among his contemporaries. Composer Jakes Bejoy`s music was called “magic,” and pivotal in enhancing the film`s intense atmosphere.
The film’s technical team also received high praise — with Shameer Muhammed’s editing and cinematography by Vijay highlighted as “top-notch.” Supporting cast members, including Suraj Venjaramoodu, Arya Salim, and Pranav, were also appreciated for their powerful performances
About Plot
Inspired by true events, Narivetta is set in a remote tribal village and follows a gripping narrative around land rights, indigenous resistance, and state violence. Tovino Thomas portrays a junior police officer, while Tamil actor Cheran, in his Malayalam debut, takes on the role of a senior cop leading a high-stakes mission.
The plot centers on a police operation targeting alleged encroachments, escalating into a violent confrontation between the villagers and the authorities. The tagline, “When the system betrays, the revolution begins,” reflects the film’s strong political undertone and commitment to addressing urgent social issues.
