A decade-old incident involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has resurfaced, bringing actress Malaika Arora into the legal spotlight. A Mumbai magistrate court recently reissued a bailable warrant against Malaika, who is a key witness in the infamous 2012 hotel brawl case but has repeatedly failed to appear for her testimony.
According to the complaint filed by Iqbal Mir Sharma, a South African businessman of Indian origin, an argument erupted when he objected to the noise level at the actor`s table. Sharma alleged that the situation escalated quickly. He claimed Saif Ali Khan threatened him before punching him in the nose, resulting in a fracture.

Sharma also accused Saif and his companions, Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, of assaulting his father-in-law, Raman Patel. Following the complaint lodged at the Colaba police station, Khan, Ladak, and Amrohi were arrested but later released on bail. They were subsequently charge-sheeted under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code (voluntarily causing grievous hurt).
Malaika Arora`s presence at the dinner table that night makes her a crucial witness in the ongoing trial. The court requires her testimony to shed light on the sequence of events. Her sister, Amrita Arora Ladakh, who was also present, has already fulfilled her legal obligation, deposing as a witness on March 29.

The court now awaits a warrant report by the next hearing date, scheduled for April 29. The trial has commenced, with three witnesses having already provided their testimony.
While the prosecution presents its case based on Sharma`s complaint, Saif Ali Khan has maintained a different version of events. Reportedly, Saif has stated that the altercation began because Sharma used provocative and abusive language directed at the women in his party, leading to the physical confrontation.
The reissuing of the warrant against Malaika Arora underscores the importance of witness cooperation in legal proceedings. All eyes will now be on the upcoming hearing date to see how this long-standing case progresses.
