Cinema chains in Mumbai are unlikely to reopen and resume functions anytime soon, in the interest of directives laid by the State Government, owing to the pandemic. Due to these unprecedented times, the releases of many Hindi films have been left hanging without a definite resolution in sight.
But on Friday morning, Amazon Prime Video announced its winter slate of 9 film releases across 5 Indian languages on its service. Out of the 9 confirmed releases, 3 major Hindi films, including Rajkummar Rao-Nushrat Bharucha starrer ‘Chhalaang’, ‘Durgavati’ starring Bhumi Pednekar and ‘Coolie No 1’ starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will drop on the digital streaming platform in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
While ‘Chhalaang’ is confirmed for a Diwali release on November 13, ‘Durgavati’ will premiere on December 11 and ‘Coolie No 1’ will enjoy a Christmas release on December 25.
Surely, cinema lovers do have a reason to cheer towards the end of 2020.
