Mumbai duo Zia and Winit Tikoo demand freedom of choice with the scathing Meri Azaadi

- Team Radio City

Mumbai music production duo brothers Abhishek and Joydeep Dasgupta aka Zia have combined forces with the incredibly popular Winit Tikoo to question the existence of freedom of speech and choice in a democracy that is battling a profound sense of intolerance, keeping in mind the representation of the LGBT community following the abolishment of Section 377 from the Indian Penal Code in September 2018,

Titled, 'Meri Azaadi', the track was written and produced a year before the celebrated verdict, in favour of LGBT rights, reiterating the need of a voice and identity for a large number of lives that are constantly polarized by a banal, intolerant society.

With pulsating drums and strings, ZIA hits a remarkable debut, sung masterfully by Tikoo. The track is the first of many upcoming collaborations that the duo have in the pipeline with some of the most distinguished indie faces including the likes of Nikhil D'Souza, Siddharth Basrur, Kanchan Daniel, Aarifah Rebello, Piyush Kapoor and Anand Bhaskar.

'Meri Azaadi' is now streaming on Radio City Freedom.
