Remembering Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: The Journey Of Becoming A Big Bull To A Big Bollywood Producer

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, an ace investor on Dalal Street, passed away at the age of 62 on Sunday. He is popularly known as Big Bull. He started his investment with a mere 5000 Rs in his pocket in 1985 with the Sensex points at 150. By the time he left the world he became one of the richest men not just in India but also in the world.
Jhunjhunwala also holds a special place for Bollywood in his heart. We can say this surely as he produced 3 famous Bollywood movies. In 2012, he produced English Vinglish which marked Sridevi's comeback after 15 years on the silver screen. The film also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Then later in 2015, he produced Shamitabh which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akshara Hassan, and Dhanush. Amitabh Bachchan was one of his favorite actors. Aamir Khan and Waheeda Rehman are also among his favorite Bollywood actors.
Again in 2016, he produced Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor starrer Ki and Ka, which got mixed reviews from the audience.
Besides producing the movies, in 1999, Big Bull launched Hungama Digital Media as an online promotion agency, which later became Hungama Digital Media Entertainment. Hungama Music and Hungama Play were also launched on OTT in 2021.
