If there's one thing that reunites the bordered nations of India and Pakistan, it has to be music. While Sufi dominates our neighbors, it is singers like Arijit Singh who proudly represent the country on a global musical map. Recently, the singer held a concert in Dubai where he failed to recognize Pak actress Mahira Khan. What follows will melt your heart.

For the uninitiated, Mahira Khan made her Bollywood debut with Rahul Dholakia's action drama, Raees. Paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan, she played his love interest in the film. The actress has delivered a spectacular body of work in Pakistani cinema, thus becoming one of the leading actresses in the country.

Now, a video of her enjoying the Arijit Singh concert in Dubai is doing the rounds on the internet, where the singer is seen apologizing to the actress.

When Arijit Singh failed to recognize Mahira Khan

At a recent concert in Dubai, the Soulmate actor had a hard time recollecting a beautiful woman's name who was enjoying his performance from the front row. What he did next to make up for her is absolutely adorable.

It so happened that Arijit was performing at a concert where he sang Zaalima, a blockbuster song from Raees, when he failed to recognize that Mahira, on whom the song was picturized, was sitting right in the front row.

Recognizing the mistake, the singer apologized and gave her a shoutout. In the viral video, Arijit Singh can be heard saying, "You guys must be surprised, should I reveal? I should reveal it in a very nice way. Can we have a camera there? I have been trying to recognize this person, then remembered I have sung for her."

"Ladies and gentlemen Mahira Khan is sitting right in front of me. Think about it: I was singing her song, Zaalima, and it's her song, and she was singing and standing, and I couldn't recognize her. I am so sorry. Maam, I am grateful and thank you so much,' he concluded.

Mahira Khan on working in Bollywood

In an old interview with Variety dating back to 2022, the Mere Humsafar actor opened up about her experience working in Bollywood. She revealed staying in touch with her friends from India and how they continue to meet in other countries to avoid being a social or political target.

'I had the most amazing time working in India. I am still in touch with so many people, and there's a lot of love there. Unfortunately, we are easy targets, soft targets, whether it's us here in Pakistan or them there in India," recalls the diva.

Mahira Khan also said that she has to be careful to put forth her views on anything due to the political tensions between India and Pakistan to protect her and her friends from Bollywood.

"Even now, we are so careful with what we write on social media. It's not that we don't talk to each other. It's not that we don't wish each other happy birthdays. It's not that we don't meet each other in different countries. It's not that - it's just that we are actually not just protecting ourselves but protecting each other,' she added.

On the work front, Mahira will next be seen in the Netflix web series Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, alongside Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed.
