Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), also known simply as lupus, is an autoimmune disease. An autoimmune disease is one in which the bodys immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. In lupus, this can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, and other organs.

In 2013, Selena Gomez took a break from singing after she was diagnosed with lupus. The artist even went through a kidney transplant and chemotherapy to manage this condition.
Lady Gaga
Back in 2010, the ‘Born This Way’ singer was tested borderline positive for lupus. The singer shared that her aunt passed away because of lupus. Lady Gaga assured the fans by saying that although she hasn’t shown any specific symptoms of lupus, she maintains her health to prevent the condition.
Toni Braxton
The American singer Toni Braxton was diagnosed with lupus nephritis in 2008. Following the diagnosis, the singer had to go through complicated heart surgery because of the disease. Since then, Toni has partnered with Aurinia Pharmaceuticals to urge people to get timely tests to help avoid severe conditions.
