1. Upcycle Décor- Use Décor which relatively friendly to the environment like ribbons, dupattas. Refurbish old saree’s and bedsheets as decorative wall hangings. Use indoors plants and DIY home décor.

2. Ecofriendly Gifts: Exchanging gifts is one of the main traditions of Diwali. Exchange Sustainable gifts which benefit the environment in the longer run. Examples indoor planters, recycled glasses, zero waste gift boxes and more.

3. Buy Earthen Diyas: Instead of purchasing expensive fancy diyas buy clay diyas and earthen diya which are made from manure and clay.

4. Organic Rangoli: Commercial colors are hazardous to the environment and can also cause irritability on skin. One can always prepare organic colors made out of turmeric(yellow), marigold petals(orange) and coriander leaves (green).

5. Replace cracker with Lanterns: Replace crackers with sky lanterns and paper poppers. They are eco-friendly and does not harm the environment.
