Perfect for the hopeless romantics dealing with lockdown blues and with social distancing playing a major hindrance in their romances, singer/songwriter Mallika Mehta has released her debut Hindi solo, ‘Kahan Hai Tu’.
A song about pining for the affection of one’s beloved, Mallika’s seamless vocals convey exasperation, confusion, frustration and longing. The composition ably blends in influences of rains and thunder to add further effect to the emotions on display.
Written and composed by Mehta, the song was conceived during the peak of the lockdown period in May. Mehta instates that the song was brought to life through mundanity. There were no verses penned or tunes arranged. A few samplings on the keyboard and Mallika knew a song was in the making. The onset of monsoon towards May-end gave further clarity on how would the song shape about since most romantic songs are centred with rain.
The singer is elated over the release of her first single. She adds, “I never thought I’d write and release a Hindi single so soon. I thought it would still take me a while to write one since I had never tried that out but it just happened.”
‘Kahan Hai Tu’ is now streaming on Radio City Freedom.
