Radio City embodies the power of Radio to spread joy and cheer during the lockdown

The curve is yet to flatten in India, given the surge in COVID 19 cases despite the country being in the midst of the third phase of nationwide lockdown. In times of despair and gloom, Radio City 91.1 FM has ensured that the spirits of its listeners are always up, through their well-placed campaigns covering a wide range of topics from food, entertainment, comedy, fitness and well-being.In association with Mid-Day, Radio City's RJ Palak connected with renowned skincare expert Dr. Jayshree Sharad over DIY beauty tips on 'Naughty Palak ka Show'. She also invited Chef Ajay Chopra on the show who shared his culinary expertise on how to cook tasty and healthy recipes. Additionally, the show also connected with stand-up comedians Atul Khatri and Nishant Tanwar who have been entertaining listeners with their wisecracks. Vishal Punjabi, Founder of The Wedding filmer was also featured on the show, discussing ongoing trends of wedding videos and online wedding.In an effort to foster community culture, Radio City also initiated 'Lockdown Rishtey', an audio-visual podcast special which focuses upon lasting bonds and relationships built during the lockdown period. RJs from major Hindi-speaking hubs lent their voices to these stories and urged listeners to come forward and share their stories as well. The show is available as a podcast on www.radiocity.in.Extending a helping hand towards the Dabbawallas in Mumbai, Radio City's 'Dabbawalle Ka Dabba Bharo' initiative launched a fundraiser and urged Mumbaikars to contribute and help the city's Dabbawallas.Down south, RJ Sowjanya from Bangalore began 'Lockdown Diary' with noted personalities including Raghu Dixit, Priyamani and Vijay Prakash to name a few. Radio City Madurai launched 'Nanba Calling' to help listeners connect with long lost friends and relatives. Besides keeping their audiences engaged, the station went the extra mile to ensure their social responsibilities. Radio City Patna, in partnership with noted mathematics academician Anand Kumar of Super 30 fame, undertook the initiative to train students and help them prepare for their civil services, and IIT/JEE exams.RJ Harshil from Ahmedabad moved government and civil authorities to act swiftly to the plea of 20 Indian students stuck in Greece by aiding them with food and basic amenities. RJs Rajas and Nikitha volunteered to help in provision of meals to daily wage earners in Bangalore. Chennai RJs urged listeners to donate groceries and medical aid to the Chennai Corporation, which was later distributed to the needy.RJ Ginnie helped a man ailing from a brain injury to supplement his family with food and medical aid by urging citizens of the national capital Delhi to come forward and help with their contributions. RJs in Bikaner in co-operation with with Bikaner Sewa Samiti ensured qualitative distribution of ration and utilities. RJs in Jalandhar, in association with the NGO Divya Drishti ensured preparation of more than 300 meals to the needy. Team Radio City in Uttar Pradesh partnered with NGOs to raise over 5 lakh rupees that helped in aiding families with over 50 thousand food packets. Additionally, Radio City joined hands with Dainik Jagran Inext and became the first radio station to provide live updates of fresh COVID-19 cases in the state. These efforts have been appreciated by Mr. Ranvendra Pratap Singh, Minister for Food and Civil Supply, Mr. Jai Pratap, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, and Mr. Bhupendra Chaudhary, Minister for Panchayati Raj.Staying true to the brand motto, 'Rag Rag Mein Daude City', Radio City and its RJs spread joy and cheer not just on-ground but also on-air. Through the months following the national lockdown, Radio City has executed multiple national campaigns including 'Concert From Home', 'Garv Se Ghar Par', and 'Corona Fighters ko Salaam' across 39 cities. The station launched an anthem 'Ghar Se Na Niklenge', motivating people to stay indoors and donate to the PM Cares Fund. Speaking about the campaigns, Mr. Kartik Kalla, Chief Creative Officer, Radio City, said, 'As we all do our bit by staying at home to ensure safety for all, the challenging situations can take a toll on our mindset. Radio City has always led purpose driven campaigns and has found innovative ways to connect with its audience to keep them entertained. These various campaigns across 39 cities, aim to leverage the power of radio to bring positivity in the society and appreciate our listeners for always supporting us in our initiatives.
