The Punjabi music industry has been left shaken after singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, was found dead nearly six days after she reportedly went missing in Punjab’s Ludhiana district.
The 29-year-old singer’s body was recovered from the Neelo Canal, turning what began as a missing person case into a suspected murder investigation.
According to reports, Inder Kaur had stepped out of her house on May 13 to buy groceries but never returned home. Her sudden disappearance triggered panic among family members, who soon raised concerns over possible foul play.
During the early hours of Tuesday, police discovered her body in the canal, causing shockwaves among her fan base and the local community.
The victim’s family has named Sukhwinder Singh, alias Sukha, as the prime suspect in the case. They alleged that the accused had been pressuring Inder Kaur to marry him and reportedly developed an obsession after she rejected his proposal.
Family members claimed the two had first connected through Instagram nearly three years ago. However, Inder reportedly ended all contact after discovering he was already married and had children.
As per the complaint filed by her brother, the accused allegedly held resentment after the rejection and may have planned the crime in advance.
Investigators suspect that he travelled from Canada to Punjab through Nepal and later fled using the same route after the incident. Authorities are currently examining the sequence of events and tracking movements linked to the case.
The family has also questioned the police response, stating that an FIR had already been registered against the accused and an associate at Jamalpur Police Station days earlier. They believe faster action might have changed the outcome.
The case has sparked widespread discussion online, with many demanding justice and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
Inder Kaur, known in music circles as Yashinder Kaur, had built a growing presence as both a singer and makeup artist. Her sudden death has left fans mourning a life and career cut short.
