Singham fame and
popular Marathi actor Ravindra Berde breathed his last on Wednesday, December 13, after battling throat cancer for years. He was 78. Berde was undergoing treatment at Tata Hospital.
According to sources close to him, he was having trouble breathing normally. He was brought home two days ago.
The actor who made a special appearance in
Ajay Devgn's Singham suddenly suffered a heart attack and passed away on Wednesday. Ravindra Berde is the brother of yet another prominent actor, Laxmikant Berde.
Who was Ravindra Berde?
Laxmikant Berde was known for his incredible contribution to
Marathi cinema. In Bollywood, he played supporting roles in movies like Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Maine Pyaar Kiya, and more.
Speaking of Ravindra Berde's work, he is a spectacular actor who has done many blockbuster Marathi movies. He is best known for Shodh, Khatarnak, Yeshwant, and Khilona Bana Khalnayak.
In Singham, the late actor played the role of a zamindar, Chandrakant, who takes up a fight against Ajay Devgn. He was also seen in the Anil Kapoor-starrer Nayak: The Real Hero.
Ravindra has done over 300 regional movies with some prominent names like Ashok Saraf, Vijay Chavan, Vijoo Khote, and Mahesh Kothare, among others.
How did Ravindra Berde die?
As per reports, Ravindra Berde suffered a heart attack in 1995 during a play. In 2011, he was diagnosed with cancer, but he continued to thoroughly entertain the audience with his stellar performances.
A couple of years ago, his condition deteriorated. The late actor had to step away from the big screen and focus on receiving proper treatment. He was admitted to Tata Hospital, one of Mumbai's best cancer-specialized hospitals.
According to a leading news portal, Ravindra's family brought him home two days ago. He suffered a major cardiac arrest and
breathed his last on Wednesday.
Many celebrities and popular names, including MP Dhananjay Mahadik, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and expressed their greif and condolences.
Ravindra Berde is survived by his wife, two children, daughter-in-law, and grandkids. Radio City extends heartfelt condolences to the Berde family. Rest in peace, sir. You will be missed.
