In a recent update, Shahid Kapoor announced that his next project will be 'Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues'. Originally, 'Ashwatthama' was announced as a film directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. However, during the trailer launch for 'Article 370', the director announced that the project was shelved for the time being. It appears that Pooja Films has picked up the project again, and it will now be directed by Sachin Ravi.

On Tuesday, Shahid announced his exciting upcoming project on Instagram. This will be his first project where he will play a mythological character. The film will be digitally released for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Shahid wrote, 'Myth and reality will blur, as past and present collide, when an ancient legend meets this modern marvel! This is the story of #AshwatthamaTheSagaContinues, the immortal warrior, a Magnum Opus you cannot miss.'

Ashwatthama will be an action film based on the mythological character of the same name, who was the son of Guru Drona in the Mahabharata epic. The movie reportedly depicts a present-day scenario in which Ashwatthama grapples with the rapid technological growth and complexities of the new world. The film will explore the psyche of an immortal being and their struggles.

The streaming partner for the film introduced the new project with the following statement: 'Ashwatthama, the immortal warrior cursed by his past, must embrace his destined role as a hero, unleashing his true power to defeat the dark forces and restore harmony to the world on the brink of chaos.'
