Saiyaara Opening Weekend Collection
In the glittering landscape of Bollywood, where established stars often dominate the box office, a refreshing phenomenon has emerged with the film Saiyaara. This romantic musical, starring two completely new faces, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has not only become one of the biggest blockbusters of 2025 but has also etched its name in history as the biggest Bollywood hit ever to feature two debutant leads.
Historically, launching two newcomers in leading roles in Hindi cinema has been a high-risk venture. While rare hits like Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel`s `Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai` (₹44.28 crore lifetime) and Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra`s `Student of the Year` (₹70 crore lifetime) have shown success, many others like `Mirzya` and `Malaal` faltered significantly. Saiyaara, however, has rewritten the playbook entirely by outgrossing these classics within its mammoth ₹83 crore opening weekend. This makes it the most successful dual debut in Bollywood history.
The film`s box office prowess is undeniable. `Saiyaara` garnered ₹48 crore net in India in its first two days, adding an impressive ₹35 crore on Sunday, bringing its domestic net total to ₹84 crore and grossing over ₹101 crore. Internationally, the film has also performed exceptionally, minting over $2 million abroad.
This takes Saiyaara`s opening weekend gross close to a staggering ₹119 crore, surpassing the lifetime worldwide collection of Sunny Deol`s recent release, `Jaat` (₹118 crore). The film has also outdone Mohit Suri`s previous opening records, including `Ek Villain` (₹105.76 crore lifetime) and `Aashiqui 2` (₹78 crore lifetime), and has firmly placed itself among the top 10 highest opening weekends of 2025.

As Suri stated, "In love, there will be pain… If love is not real, it’s not felt. I believe in it more than I fantasise about it.” The film`s music, featuring chartbusters like "Saiyaara (Reprise)" and "Tum Rehte Ho," acted as a powerful "supporting act," resonating deeply with audiences and leading to viral videos of packed theatres.
The raw and sincere performances of Ahaan Panday as Krish, an aspiring musician, and Aneet Padda as Vaani, a writer grappling with early-onset Alzheimer`s, have received widespread acclaim. Actress-producer Alia Bhatt gushed on Instagram, “It’s safe to say… two beautiful, magical STARS are born. I don’t remember the last time I looked at two actors with such awe…” Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu echoed the sentiment, and actor Harshvardhan Rane aptly summarised, “Another melodious example of a love story shattering all myths and formulas of the industry.”
Produced by Yash Raj Films and CEO Akshay Widhani, Saiyaara has not only broken records but has also signalled a significant shift in Bollywood`s landscape, proving that compelling storytelling and fresh talent can indeed dominate the box office.
An Audacious Gamble Pays Off
Released on July 18, 2025, Saiyaara burst into mainstream cinema with an astonishing ₹21 crore opening day collection. This figure is particularly remarkable, as even seasoned superstars have struggled to achieve such numbers in the post-pandemic era. The film`s immediate success proved to be "one of the most audacious gambles in Bollywood that turned out to be rewarding." In just three days, director Mohit Suri`s Saiyaara has soared past the ₹100 crore gross mark worldwide, fuelled by houseful shows across India, making it the 8th highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, and its spectacular run has only just begun.Historically, launching two newcomers in leading roles in Hindi cinema has been a high-risk venture. Saiyaara`s Authenticity and Music
What exactly fuelled this unprecedented success? Director Mohit Suri attributes it to the film`s authenticity and emotional truth. Suri’s distinct voice, known from films like `Aashiqui 2` and `Malang,` shines through Saiyaara, which explores vulnerability, memory loss, and the emotional turbulence of youth against a backdrop of stirring music. As Suri stated, "In love, there will be pain… If love is not real, it’s not felt.
