Ramayana: Makers of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi Starrer Confirm 2 Parts

The highly anticipated cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic, Ramayana, has finally received a confirmed release schedule. Produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, this magnum opus will be released in two parts, with the first set to premiere during Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. The movie, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is expected to be a grand retelling of the ancient tale, bringing the timeless epic to life on the big screen.
Malhotra expressed his enthusiasm in a heartfelt message, saying, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen.” He added, “And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with only one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our ‘RAMAYANA’– for people across the world.”
Sharing his gratitude, he invited audiences to “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence… Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027. From our entire Ramayana Family.”

While this adaptation has been announced in two parts, sources reveal that Ramayana is likely to evolve into a trilogy, allowing for an expansive portrayal of the story. The first part will focus on Ram and Sita’s journey up to Sita’s abduction by Ravana. The second film is expected to centre on Hanuman`s journey, exploring his connection to Lord Ram and Sita`s abduction. The third and final installment will delve into the aftermath of Sita’s abduction and the eventual resolution.
The ambitious project is currently being filmed, with production for the first part nearing completion. The makers are filming scenes for the subsequent parts in parallel, ensuring no extended gaps between releases.

On Wednesday, Namit Malhotra, the film`s producer, took to social media to share exciting details about the release format and dates for Ramayana. He confirmed that the movie would be released in two parts, with Part One hitting theatres in 2026, followed by Part Two in 2027. Ramayana Cast and Crew
Though the official poster did not mention the cast, reports have revealed key roles. Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi has been cast as Sita. South Indian superstar Yash will take on the role of the antagonist Ravana and is also involved in co-producing the film.
