Her latest release was a sports drama based on Indian football coach and manager Syed Abdul Rahim, as essayed by
Ajay Devgn. The film was released on April 12 in cinemas and continues to receive positive responses.
Priyamani, who is currently basking in the success of Maidaan, sat down with a leading entertainment portal and opened up about one of the toughest phases of her life.
Priyamani on being trolled for her intercaste marriage
While promoting her latest release, Maidaan, the actress recalled the time when she was brutally and
unnecessarily trolled for her interfaith marriage with her husband, Mustafa Raj.
The Jawan actress married the popular industrialist in 2017. However, it wasn't a bed of roses for her. She became the most talked-about person on the internet as fans and netizens trolled her for marrying into a Muslim family.
In her recent chat with news portal Galatta, the actress spoke about the time when she was criticized for having an intercaste marriage and whether it affected her.

Not only me per se, but my family also, especially my father and mother. But I have to say that my husband stood by me like a rock. He said, 'Look, whatever happens, I will let everything come to me first. But all I would say is, Hold my hand and be with me through every step."

She even spoke about her parents and mentioned, 'We took care of everything and didn't let it hinder my parents either. We just asked them not to bother much because it's us at the end of the day. Their blessings and prayers have taken us a long way.'

Maidaan alongside Ajay Devgn. The sports-drama, based on the life of India's football coach and manager, Syed Abdul Rahim, depicts his hardships and journey of making his country proud.
