Anticipation is building for the release of `Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh`. As the April 18 premiere approaches, the film`s lead actors, Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, took a significant step beyond typical promotions. They recently visited the historic Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, paying a moving tribute to the lives tragically lost in the 1919 massacre.
In a brutal turn, British troops, under General Dyer`s command, opened fire without warning, continuing until their ammunition ran out. Many desperately leapt into a well within the garden to escape, only to perish there. This year marked the 106th anniversary of that horrific event. The cast`s visit served as a poignant reminder of this history, connecting directly to the film`s narrative.
The film itself spotlights a lesser-known figure from the aftermath of the tragedy: Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair. Played by Akshay Kumar, Nair was a lawyer and former President of the Indian National Congress who served on the Viceroy’s Council. In protest against the massacre, he resigned from his position.
More significantly, he launched a legal battle against the British Empire, accusing them of genocide. Kesari Chapter 2 explores Nair`s courageous fight for justice and the personal sacrifices he made to hold the Crown accountable. The cast emphasised the importance of bringing this overlooked chapter of the freedom struggle to light.

R. Madhavan shared his deep connection to the project, stating, "I have had the good fortune of being part of many historic films, a lot of them depicting true stories about our country; this will be the proudest film of mine. I think everyone should see the film; the message is loud and clear. We are a very proud country with very proud people. The days of taking an Indian for granted are over."
Akshay Kumar also addressed recent controversial remarks attributed to General Dyer’s great-granddaughter, who reportedly called the victims "looters". Kumar expressed hope that the film might prompt reflection, saying, “I hope she watches this film and understands what really happened that day." He further suggested the film might even encourage an official apology from the British government for the massacre.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, `Kesari Chapter 2` features Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday in key roles. The film is produced by a team including Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, and others under the banners of Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective.
