Kesari Chapter 2 Teaser
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is back with yet another gripping historical drama, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh. The teaser, released on Monday, has already stirred curiosity, hinting at an intense courtroom battle centred around one of the darkest chapters in Indian history. Unlike its predecessor, which showcased the bravery of 21 Sikh soldiers, Kesari Chapter 2 shifts focus to a different kind of fight—one fought in a British courtroom, challenging colonial oppression.
What follows is haunting—a pitch-black screen accompanied only by the chilling sounds of men, women, and children screaming. The audience hears desperate cries as they flee for their lives during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. The British Army`s ruthless act of opening fire on an unarmed gathering is narrated in painful detail, painting a horrifying picture of people struggling to escape the bloodshed.
Then comes a gut-wrenching moment—when the chaos ends, a powerful tagline appears on the screen, reminding viewers, "This was just 30 seconds of the massacre that lasted for 10 minutes."
This is followed by visuals of the Golden Temple in 1919, serving as a stark reminder of the historical backdrop against which this tragedy unfolded.
Unlike Kesari, which was a war epic, Kesari Chapter 2 unfolds as a gripping courtroom drama. Akshay Kumar plays C. Sankaran Nair, a determined lawyer who took on the British Raj in an attempt to expose the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
One of the most striking moments in the teaser is an intense courtroom exchange when a British judge warns Akshay’s character, "Nobody has won against the British Empire. Don’t forget, you are still a slave of the British."
To this, Akshay Kumar’s character fearlessly retorts, "F*** you." This defiant response, though shocking, symbolises the rebellious spirit of Nair, a man who refused to bow down to colonial rule.
Akshay Kumar himself took to social media to share the teaser, adding a powerful caption, "He held his head high. He beat them at their game. He told them where to go. A genocide India must know about. A revolution painted in courage."

The film is adapted from the book The Case That Shook the Empire, written by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, who are direct descendants of Sankaran Nair. It highlights the lawyer’s courageous battle against British rule, exposing their brutality in an English court.
While the movie isn’t an action-packed war drama like the first Kesari, it promises to be a high-stakes legal thriller filled with intense debates, political conspiracies, and a quest for justice.

In response, General Reginald Dyer ordered the British Army to surround the peaceful gathering with troops from Gurkha and Sikh infantry regiments. Without warning, he commanded them to open fire on unarmed civilians, shooting continuously until their ammunition ran low.
The massacre led to a death toll that, according to official British reports, was 379 deaths, while Indian sources estimate over 1,000 casualties. The brutal attack sparked nationwide outrage and became a turning point in India`s fight for independence.
Following the massacre, C. Sankaran Nair took a bold stand. He resigned from the Viceroy’s Executive Council in protest. Later, he travelled to England and publicly accused Michael O’Dwyer (then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab) of being responsible for the genocide. O’Dwyer sued Nair for defamation, hoping that an English court would rule in his favour.
Nair faced an uphill battle, fighting against a British official in a British court with a British jury. Ultimately, the verdict was 11-1 in favour of O’Dwyer, and Nair was fined 500 pounds. O’Dwyer even offered to forgive the fine if Nair apologised, but Nair refused.
This historic trial exposed British atrocities on a global stage, proving that India was no longer willing to suffer in silence.
With its powerful subject matter, courtroom drama, and historical significance, Kesari Chapter 2 promises to be a must-watch film for history buffs and cinema lovers alike.
