Kangana Ranaut Recalls Being Called A Witch, "They Said I Do Black Magic"

Kangana Ranaut has never shied away from making bold statements, and that`s one of the things we absolutely love about her. She`s the exact opposite of nonchalant.
Be it her love life, political views, or on the professional front, she has always spoken her mind out without any hesitation. And this time is no different as Kangana recalls facing a `witch-hunt`.
She recalled the controversies and labels that followed after her breakup with her ex-boyfriend, Adhyayan Suman. She was also accused of practising black magic.
Kangana Ranaut on facing a witch-hunt
In a recent podcast with ANI, the actress got candid about the phase of her life when many accused her of doing unholy practices like drinking blood and performing black magic. This was right after her breakup with Suman.
She recalled, "My ex filed a case against me, and on top of that, some people stood up and said she`s a witch, she drinks blood, and she does black magic. So there was a witch-hunt.”

Adhyayan and Kangana dated during the shoot of their film, Raaz 2, around 2008-09. However, the case was filed later in 2015.
“There was evident and very apparent witch-hunting happening at that time, and I was hardly 26 or 27 years old. So when this is how they`re going to treat me, why should I make them look good? I have no reason to make them look good,” she recounted.
Revealing she "does not give a damn about them", Ranaut said it was her conviction and focus on work that allowed her to tune out of these baseless rumours.
Kangana Ranaut on Deepika Padukone`s 8-hour shift debate
The Queen actress also extended her support to Deepika Padukone`s 8-hour shift debate after the latter let-go off several projects due to lack of fixed working hours.
In the same podcast, Kangana said, “I don’t think there should be an issue created out of this because if you see where she (Deepika) is coming from, she has earned that place. She has a daughter; she’s a mother now and the topmost actress. If today she is keen to work for eight hours, she has earned it."
Kangana Ranaut also criticised the unnecessary and sexist societal pressure on women, especially mothers.
She concluded, "Let me just conclude it with this. You know, when you`re new, you`re coming up; you are replaceable. Your place is different. She, being where she is, is a mother. She`s got a family to look after. She`s also earned that place where people are going to say that, wait a minute, I want her. And it`s okay if she comes for eight hours because we`ll work around her time. So why not?"
On the work front, Kangana was last seen in Emergency. She next has Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata in 2026.
