Kangana Ranaut stirs controversy, compares herself with Shah Rukh Khan
And she is back again! Kangana Ranaut strikes with yet another controversial comment as she compares her journey with Shah Rukh Khan. She believes her journey in Bollywood has been quite different as compared to other outsiders, especially the Jawan actor.
Speaking at an event in Delhi late last week, the actress-turned-politician opened up on her mainstream success, both in terms of fame and box office success.
Addressing her roots, she said, “Why did I get so much success? There is probably nobody else who came from a village and got such success in the mainstream. You talk about Shah Rukh Khan. They are from Delhi and convent-educated. I was from a village that nobody would have even heard of – Bhamla.”
"Maybe others may disagree, but I feel it’s because I am brutally honest, not just with people but with myself too,” Kangana added.
More about Kangana Ranaut`s roots
The Queen actress, who hails from a small town called Bhimla in Himachal Pradesh, moved to Mumbai in 2019 after running away from her home. She aspired to become an actress and dominate the entertainment world.
She found her first break at 19 in the film Gangster opposite Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. Ranaut went on to establish herself as an incredible actress with films like Raaz, Queen, Fashion, Tanu Weds Manu, Rangoon and more.
In the 2010s, she gave three back-to-back highest-grossing female-led blockbusters, making her one of the most desirable actresses. This solidified her position as one of the top stars to carry a film on her shoulders.
Kangana has also been a four-time National Award winner.
On the work front
Her last film, Emergency, was a commercial disappointment. It revolved around former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the emergency situation that changed the fate of the nation during her reign.
Kangana Ranaut will now make her glorious Hollywood debut with Blessed Be The Evil, a horror drama slated to release in 2026. Further details about the project are kept under wraps.
In 2024, she transitioned to politics and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She also contested for the 2024 elections and won the Mandi constituency.
