The actress played the role of a disabled cricketer who goes on to redefine her life after a ruthless accident in which she loses her right arm. Her life takes a 360-degree turn after she stops feeling pity for herself and focuses on becoming a great left-arm bowler.

Saiyami Kher plays the role of Anina, an ace female cricketer who goes on to be guided by a former cricket coach, Padam Singh (Abhishek Bachchan). The movie did fairly well at the box office.

2. Mardaani: Rani Mukerji

The three-series franchise headlined by Rani Mukerji proved that women can excel at anything, be it being a police officer or a homemaker. Shivani Shivaji Roy is a fearless cop who is on a mission to catch a 21-year-old rapist and murderer who is on a run.

The movie goes on to show that when a woman breaks societal stereotypes, there's always a revolution that follows.

3. English Vinglish: Sridevi

How can we not mention this movie, especially when it is International Women's Day? Gauri Shinde took on the simple and relatable topic of a homemaker and a doted mom and how they're often taken for granted.

Sridevi's one decision to learn English changed the perspective of her family towards her, so much so that even her children realized how capable their mother is.

4. Gangubai Kathiyawadi: Alia Bhatt

Who would have ever imagined that the head of a brothel would become a changemaker in society? Gangubai Kathiyawadi is the real-life story of a se worker in Mumbai's Kamathipura who fought for the rights of the courtesans.


She ensured the children of sex workers do not carry the same fate as their mothers. Alia Bhatt as Gangubai did extraordinary justice to an ordinary story, all thanks to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's vision.

5. Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway: Rani Mukerji

Yet another movie headlined by the ace actress, Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway, will change you on a cellular level. A mother being parted away from her children for no fault of hers and later on being accused as a mentally challenged patient could be the most terrible thing to any woman.

Rani Mukerji portrayed the role beautifully. We just couldn't take our eyes off her.
