Best known for his movies like Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, RamLeela, Gangubai Kathiyawadi, and Bajirao Mastani, among others, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is back with yet another outworldly project titled Heeramandi: The Diamond Baazar.

Heeramandi will mark his first ever web series in collaboration with Netflix. It has a stellar star cast of actresses like Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Sehgal, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sonakshi Sinha.

Bringing Bhansali's eminent vision to life, the first look of Heeramandi has taken the internet by storm. The teaser for the web series gives a glimpse of the journey of courtesans who were once royal queens.

On Tuesday, Netflix took to social media and shared the first look at Heeramandi: The Diamond Baazar. The show is set in the pre-independence era, where the partition destroys their kingdom.

It starts with showcasing the magnificent, patent Bhansali sets that will intrigue you all the more. It further shows Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Manisha Koirala, and Sanjeeda Shaikh as queens dressed in royal attires as they gracefully dance in their kingdoms.



Towards the end, Sonakshi Sinha is introduced, who looks like the antagonist of the show. In the middle of this is a chaotic journey from being empresses to courtesans whose talent is put to the test.

The first look at Heeramandi has already intrigued fans, especially the spectacular ensemble of the cast, which makes you want to binge-watch it right this moment. The series also promises to be a beautiful amalgamation of art, glory, culture, and Bhansali's legacy.

It is rumored that the web show will also mark legendary actress Mumtaz's comeback. The costumes are designed by Rimple and Harpreet. The filmmaker and designer duo have also collaborated in the past on Padmaavat, yet another Bhansali masterpiece.

For the uninitiated, the web show is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's passion project, on which he has been working for over 14 years. While the release date of Heeramandi is not yet out, it will soon be streaming on Netflix.
