Don 3: Farhan Akhtar Opens Up On Divided Opinions On Ranveer Singh As Don, Calls Him Amazing

Farhan Akhtar has been headlining the Bollywood gossip column more than usual after he unveiled the Don 3 announcement teaser with Ranveer Singh playing the new Don. The movie has already become the most anticipated one after the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor became the face of one of the larger-than-life action franchises.
As soon as the Don 3 teaser was released, it received mixed reviews. While some fans were excited to see Ranveer Singh play the titular role, others criticized the director for replacing the OG Shah Rukh Khan, who has headlined two successful franchises of the action thriller. In a recent interview, Farhan Akhtar opened up about the divided opinions on the internet about casting Ranveer as the new Don.
Opening up about the same, Farhan said, “I`m just really looking forward to getting it going. I mean, Ranveer is amazing. He`s great for the part. He`s also, as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous. You know about the fact that you`re filling some big shoes. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh Khan did it, and everyone was like, ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?’ That whole thing happened then."
"And it really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it, really like giving it their style and their flair, and he has that. He has that in spades. So he`s going to do that. Yeah. So he`s going to do a great job. I think the responsibility is more mine now to make sure that the script of the film works out the way I imagined," he further added.
He also spoke about what it takes to make a good Don. The actor-filmmaker said, “Self-confidence, flamboyance, belief, and the ability to do anything that your mind is set on.”
The original character was played by Amitabh Bachchan in the 1978 release. Farhan Akhtar and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani officially purchased the original rights to the cult classic and remade it with Shah Rukh Khan in 2006, followed by Don 2 in 2011.
Ranveer Singh sure knows the big shoes he will be filling and the amount of justice he has to do with the responsibility of a legacy on his shoulders. Don 3 is slated to release in 2025.

In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, the filmmaker expressed his excitement for Don 3 and the divided opinions it has been receiving on the internet. On August 8, Farhan Akhtar dropped the announcement teaser for Don 3, which featured Ranveer Singh in the lead.Opening up about the same, Farhan said, “I`m just really looking forward to getting it going. Farhan was asked to reveal more details on the third part of the most-anticipated action thriller. When asked about the release date, he said, “The filming for Don (3) starts in 2025. We start in January 2025. So there’s some time away.”He also spoke about what it takes to make a good Don.
