Anurag Kashyap`s Bandar Led by Bobby Deol To Premiere at Toronto Film Festival

Anurag Kashyap`s much-anticipated film, Bandar (Monkey In a Cage), is set for a grand world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). This selection marks a significant moment for Indian cinema on the global stage. The film, starring a rejuvenated Bobby Deol and the versatile Sanya Malhotra, will be showcased in the prestigious special presentations category at the festival, scheduled from September 4 to September 14, 2025.
The intense first look and the film`s selection have already created a buzz within the industry. Congratulatory messages poured in for Deol, with his brother Sunny Deol sharing heart and thumbs-up emojis. Actor Vikrant Massey commented, "Many congratulations Sir," while Chandan Roy Sanyal, Deol`s co-star from the Ashram series, called it “amazing.”
Bobby Deol, who recently appeared in the Telugu film Daaku Maharaj, has a packed schedule with upcoming films like Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1, Alpha, and Jana Nayagan. Sanya Malhotra is also set to appear in Toaster alongside Rajkummar Rao and Varun Dhawan`s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
Bandar is not the only Indian film to grace TIFF`s 50th anniversary. It will be joined by Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, which received a nine-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, and a restored version of the timeless classic Sholay, further highlighting the diverse range of Indian cinema being celebrated internationally.
